Caroline Miller

Founder of Sweet Caroline’s

My name is Caroline and I am the founder of Sweet Caroline’s. I have loved baking my entire life. I was in fifth grade when COVID started, so I had a lot of time at home. I learned how to bake on my own during that period - how to read recipes, measure accurately, use the oven safely, and experiment with flavors and methods.

Since middle school, I have been baking on weekends as a way to relax. I enjoy watching my family eat my treats and I love experimenting with new recipes and methods. In the Summer of 2024, I had the idea to create Sweet Caroline’s. As part of my Design Thinking and Social Entrepreneurship class freshman year, I learned how to apply business concepts and skills to solve problems and drive social change. The profit from Sweet Caroline’s orders provides the funds to purchase ingredients to bake for donation to my local community. By donating home baked treats, I am able to create joy for others by making something special just for them. In addition, generating awareness and raising funds for local community partners is my way to combat food insecurity with love.

I am now a sophomore in the New Venture Startup/EntreX program, which is a college-level course in entrepreneurship that is taught in partnership with the University of Delaware’s Horn School of Business. Through that class, I am continuing to develop entrepreneurship skills and mindset and will participate in entrepreneurship challenges throughout the year.

In addition to Sweet Caroline’s, I play varsity soccer and JV lacrosse, and participate in the Midnight Run Club and Jewish Culture Club at my high school.
