Lifting Up Westchester

Lifting Up Westchester’s mission is to provide life-changing support to people who have lost their housing or are struggling to meet other basic needs. They partner with those they serve to build a more secure future for themselves and their families. Lifting Up Westchester provides comprehensive support to people facing homelessness, hunger, and extreme poverty including: emergency shelter, hot meals, job assistance, housing, and youth programs.

I was first introduced to Lifting Up Westchester through my Girl Scout Troop in elementary school when we baked brownies to donate for Thanksgiving dinner at Grace’s Community Kitchen. Through Sweet Caroline’s, I continue to donate home baked goods for holiday meals throughout the year.

Midnight Run

Midnight Run is a volunteer organization dedicated to finding common ground between the housed and the homeless. Headquartered in Dobbs Ferry, Midnight Run coordinates over 1,000 relief missions per year, in which volunteers from churches, synagogues, schools and other civic groups distribute food, clothing, blankets and personal care items to the homeless poor on the streets of New York City. The late-night relief efforts create a forum for trust, sharing, understanding and affection. That human exchange, rather than the exchange of goods, is the essence of the Midnight Run mission.

As part of my participation in Midnight Run Club through my high school and at Hitchcock Church, Sweet Caroline’s provides freshly made home baked goods to be included in the meals that the groups assemble and deliver. We then deliver the packages and witness firsthand how baking is love.

Feeding Westchester

Feeding Westchester serves Westchester County, providing food to a hunger-relief network of nearly 300 partners and programs. With a mission to nourish our neighbors in the fight against hunger, Feeding Westchester sources and distributes good, nutritious food and other resources wherever they are needed most.

Sweet Caroline’s partners with Feeding Westchester to provide home baked treats directly through some of their partner agencies. Sweet Caroline’s also supports Feeding Westchester by fundraising through local bake sales, organizing food drives, and packaging food for the “Help from Home” initiative.
